Professional requirements for CPA’s will typically demand:

  • That applicants for licensure possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • That applicants have completed 150 units of college classwork – roughly 30 more units than is typically required of a college degree
  • That an applicant has passed or is in the process of preparing for the four-part Uniform CPA Exam.  This exam is administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
  • That the applicant has previous work experience – almost all state accountancy boards have a requirement of some previous experience in the field of accounting be completed before one can apply for a CPA license

The state of Arkansas requires that all potential CPA Licensees:

  • Have a degree from a four-year degree-granting college or university that is accredited by one or more recognized regional accrediting agencies
  • Have completed in their degree program at least 30 semester hours of business related coursework and at least 30 semester hours or 20 graduate level semester hours in the concentration of accounting
